Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Narayanpur based Butluram Mathra ‘s efforts in preserving Tribal art in the 115th episode of his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday.
Mathra has dedicated the last four decades in saving and promoting the unique folk art of the Abujhmadia tribe, bringing Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage into the national spotlight.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted Mathra’s unwavering commitment, stating, “Butluram ji has preserved the heritage of folk art that reflects Chhattisgarh’s culture. His dedication is an inspiration for future generations.” This acknowledgment serves as a testament to Mathra’s efforts in showcasing Chhattisgarh’s uniqueness to the world.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his delight at the Prime Minister’s commendation of Mathra’s work in folk art preservation.
He noted the significance of recognizing artists, who contribute to cultural preservation and lauded Mathra for also supporting initiatives like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat. “Tribal culture remains vibrant in its original form in Narayanpur, and our government will actively promote the efforts of Mathra,” said Chief Minister.
